Associate General Counsel, Third Party Capital and Strategic Transactions (Insurance/Reinsurance)

Location: Hybrid, based in Warren, New Jersey or New York City; 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. Applicants must be admitted and in good standing with the New Jersey, New York, or another U.S. state bar association.

Base salary: $200,000–$250,000 annually.

What you will do

• Advise Mt. Logan’s third-party capital management team on insurance-linked securities offerings and collateralized reinsurance vehicles.
• Support reinsurance-related strategic transactions, including capital markets activity and third-party capital transactions.
• Draft and review ILS transaction documents, legal documentation, business proposals, and related materials.
• Advise Investments, Treasury, Securities, and Capital Solutions teams on M&A, insurance and reinsurance transactions, compliance, and cross-functional matters.
• Manage due diligence, transactional support, outside counsel, legal research, reporting, and legal policy development.
• Coordinate with senior attorneys, paralegals, compliance professionals, and business stakeholders on high-visibility strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house with a major insurance or reinsurance company.
• Strong experience advising on complex insurance, corporate, investment management, and/or reinsurance transactions.
• Experience with structured and bespoke insurance solutions, CAT bonds, insurance-linked securities, and capital markets.
• Strong negotiating, analytical, organizational, writing, and communication skills.
• Admission and good standing in the New Jersey, New York, or another U.S. state bar association required.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and collaborative working style.

Nice to have

• Experience with collateralized sidecars and third-party capital transactions.
• Financial services experience.
