Sr Counsel, Workers Compensation

Location: Jacksonville, Florida, United States; regular travel to hearings, trials, depositions, and other court proceedings may be required.

Annual base salary: $132,800–$219,100, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently manage high-exposure workers compensation cases and complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions using advanced litigation and trial skills.
• Conduct legal research; draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Attend hearings, depositions, court events, and other appointments, including travel as required.
• Advise insured clients and Claims partners on case analysis, file-handling strategies, and litigation outcomes.
• Collaborate with experts and consultants, manage business relationships, provide training, and mentor attorneys and legal support staff.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney in insurance defense litigation.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven experience handling jury trials, hearings, depositions, dispositive motions, or other court proceedings.
• Strong legal research, writing, oral advocacy, negotiation, case analysis, and client relationship skills.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on the location.
