Associate Engineer, Protection & Controls

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule. The role requires travel to operating districts, substations, and generation facilities, including emergency restoration assignments.

Annual salary: $82,800–$92,000, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Review proposed changes to electric facilities for compatibility with protection system standards.
• Create Protection and Control system designs and specify materials for new or modified systems.
• Develop and document settings and logic for protective relays, logic processors, feeder reclosers, and switches.
• Perform coordination studies using fault simulation software to model electric system elements and protection systems.
• Analyze protection system operations during transmission and distribution disturbances.
• Collaborate with planning, operations, field, project management, substation engineering, and maintenance personnel; support storm and emergency restoration work.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Zero to four years of related Electrical Engineering experience.
• Knowledge or focus in electric power systems engineering is preferred.
• Ability to work in an office environment and travel to operating districts, substations, and generation facilities.
