Senior Software Engineer I (AI)

Location: Onsite at one of the following U.S. locations: Bellevue, WA; Sunnyvale, CA; San Francisco, CA; Livingston, NJ; Manhattan, NY; Philadelphia, PA; or Dallas, TX.

Salary: $153,000–$204,000 annual base salary, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and operate full-stack applications and features for the UNION data platform.
• Develop software supporting infrastructure planning, hardware allocation, finance, supply chain, and data center operations.
• Own product areas end to end, from understanding user needs with non-engineering stakeholders to production operation.
• Build natural-language interfaces, agents, and other LLM-backed features over governed data.
• Design reliable HTTP APIs, data models, and integrations with analytical data platforms.
• Operate production services, including deployment, observability, automated testing, CI/CD, and on-call support.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production software across backend services and modern web frontends.
• Strong Python and TypeScript skills with experience in React, Next.js, or a comparable framework.
• Experience designing and operating HTTP APIs, handling timeouts and retries, and maintaining write correctness during partial failures.
• Strong SQL and relational data-modeling experience, including evolving schemas in production.
• Production experience with LLM-backed features and evaluating output quality.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, analytical data platforms, and production operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-native applications such as text-to-SQL interfaces, copilots, agents, or automated insight generation.
• Experience with LangGraph, agent tracing, and evaluation tooling.
• Experience with distributed systems, Iceberg, Delta, Hudi, StarRocks, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
• Experience building internal platforms or working in capacity planning, supply chain, or finance.
