Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite at one of the following U.S. locations: Bellevue, WA; Sunnyvale, CA; San Francisco, CA; Livingston, NJ; Manhattan, NY; Philadelphia, PA; or Dallas, TX. Export-controlled information access requires the candidate to be a U.S. person, eligible without export authorization, or eligible and reasonably likely to obtain authorization.

Salary: $101,000–$134,000 annual base salary, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and ship features for UNION, the internal data platform, and applications supporting infrastructure planning and operations.
• Develop browser experiences with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Build Python services running on Kubernetes and work with the underlying queries and data models.
• Develop AI-facing natural-language interfaces and agents for querying governed data.
• Own scoped features end to end, including testing, production release, and post-release fixes.
• Work directly with internal users and collaborate with senior engineers on broader technical areas.

Requirements

• 2+ years building production software, or equivalent experience through internships and substantial projects.
• Working proficiency in Python or another backend language, plus JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with React or Next.js, HTTP APIs, relational databases, SQL joins, and aggregations.
• Some exposure to AI and LLM development, including prompting, retrieval, tool calling, or agents.
• Familiarity with version control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control access requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Helm, or Kubernetes deployment tooling.
• Exposure to Spark, StarRocks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or other analytical databases.
• Experience building AI-native features such as text-to-SQL interfaces, copilots, or insight generation.
• Experience building internal tools used daily by other employees.
