Scrum Master (Agile)

Location: Remote within the United States, with a strong preference for candidates in the Washington, DC Metro Area and occasional onsite meetings at the client site in Washington, DC. Work must be performed in the U.S.; foreign locations, foreign IP addresses, and personal VPN connections are prohibited.

Salary: $81,499–$138,549 annually

What you will do

• Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, blocker removal, dependency management, team metrics, and release coordination.
• Ensure stories meet the Definition of Ready before sprint commitment and surface cross-team issues through Product Operations.
• Identify delivery risks, weak backlog readiness, unresolved dependencies, and escalation needs.
• Support cloud-based data, analytics, AI/ML, and platform modernization initiatives.
• Coordinate with product management, engineering, security, governance, quality, architecture, and customer-facing stakeholders.
• Document decisions, risks, delivery evidence, and work products to support traceability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship, U.S. residence, and authorization to work in the U.S. are required.
• Must have lived in the U.S. for three full years out of the last five years.
• Bachelor’s degree in project management, information systems, business administration, computer science, Agile delivery, or a related field, or a high school diploma with four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least four years of relevant experience; a master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Scrum ceremonies, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar delivery frameworks.
• Experience with software, data, analytics, cloud, or platform modernization initiatives.
• Experience tracking delivery metrics, coordinating releases, managing dependencies, and coaching Agile teams.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Miro, or similar tools.
• Scrum Master certification such as CSM, PSM, or SAFe Scrum Master.
