Interconnection Customer Project Development, Engineer 3

Location: Hybrid position based at the SCE facility in Pomona, California; employees are generally required to work and reside in California. The role includes up to 20% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory.

Salary: $129,200–$193,700 per year.

What you will do

• Develop substation scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and reliable connection requirements for generation and large customer/load interconnections above 50 kV.
• Coordinate engineering, planning, project management, environmental, real properties, protection, telecommunications, and power system controls stakeholders during facility studies.
• Sponsor complex customer projects through execution and maintain engineering design basis documentation.
• Resolve high-impact technical and cross-functional engineering problems and conduct engineering studies with full technical responsibility.
• Assess project risks, implement mitigation strategies, support audits and inspections, and ensure environmental, health, safety, and cybersecurity compliance.
• Lead technical work with employees and contractors and provide guidance and training to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
• At least five years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver's license.
• Ability to work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.
• Successful completion of a Personnel Risk Assessment or background investigation is required before hiring for this NERC/CIP-impacted position.

Nice to have

• Substation engineering and design experience, including project scope, cost, and schedule development.
• Knowledge of generation interconnections, large customer load interconnections, WDAT, TOT, Rule 21, or utility planning processes.
• Experience sponsoring customer projects and delivering technical presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong customer engagement and stakeholder management skills.
