Development Engineer (Hydrogen/Decarbonization)

Location: Hybrid work from the Houston, Texas office, United States

Salary: $226,000–$266,000 USD base salary per year

What you will do

• Lead technical development of green hydrogen, blue hydrogen, e-Fuel, and other low-carbon industrial projects from concept definition through Final Investment Decision.
• Coordinate with internal technology, engineering, construction, project execution, and project development teams, as well as external technical resources.
• Prepare plot plans, execution schedules, capital and operating cost estimates, plant performance and utility consumption estimates, carbon-intensity models, and financial technoeconomic inputs.
• Lead technical documentation for grid interconnection, air emissions permits, water sources, natural gas supply, and related infrastructure.
• Support customer engagement, proposals, commercial materials, due diligence packages, project financing, and lender diligence.
• Develop project execution plans covering technology selection, FEED, pre-FID procurement, EPC contracting, construction, and external engineering resource management.

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering and project development experience in energy, natural gas, industrial, infrastructure, hydrogen, carbon capture, renewable fuels, or clean technology sectors.
• Experience developing natural gas, blue hydrogen, carbon capture and sequestration, industrial gases, energy infrastructure, renewable fuels, or other low-carbon industrial projects through key milestones.
• Understanding of permitting, site selection, utility coordination, natural gas and CO2 infrastructure, commercial contracting, stakeholder management, and project due diligence.
• Strong project management, analytical, budgeting, financial analysis, project economics, and development risk assessment skills.
• Experience working across engineering, environmental, commercial, legal, finance, policy, supply chain, and operations functions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear recommendations and action plans.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with carbon intensity, emissions accounting, carbon capture performance, CO2 storage or offtake pathways, and related regulatory or incentive frameworks.
• Experience with natural gas infrastructure, green or blue hydrogen, carbon capture and sequestration or utilization, industrial gases, or low-carbon fuels.
