Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: NYC hybrid or remote within the United States

Annual base salary: $180,000–$230,000

What you will do

• Lead, empower, mentor, and grow a diverse team of software engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, and career planning.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Business teams to define roadmaps, scope initiatives, and balance business priorities with engineering delivery.
• Drive sprint planning, capacity allocation, architectural oversight, and reliable technical execution.
• Review technical designs and guide architecture for complex systems with strong security, testability, monitoring, and scalability standards.
• Support platform scaling, continuous improvement, and fast-paced 0-to-1 product development.

Requirements

• 8+ years of total software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of direct engineering team management and mentoring experience in high-growth environments.
• Experience building, shipping, and maintaining complex backend or platform architectures across multiple release cycles.
• Experience leading teams through technical ambiguity, greenfield product builds, or core platform transformations.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and collaboration with product, design, and business stakeholders.
• Experience with Java, GCP, or React Native is a plus; strong engineering leadership and architectural judgment are essential.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java running in GCP on the backend.
• Experience with React Native on mobile products.
