Principal Software Engineer (RMJ, AI Accelerated)

Location: Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD $150,000–$170,000 annually in base salary, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of large-scale distributed systems for the RunMyJobs platform.
• Drive technical decisions and deliver scalable, resilient full-stack solutions across teams and domains.
• Apply prompt engineering and generative AI tools to produce unit and integration tests, technical documentation, and refactoring suggestions.
• Enhance cloud-based build, test, and deployment pipelines using CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Identify and resolve challenges involving quality, scalability, observability, performance, and platform reliability.
• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, architecture, finance, and customer success teams while mentoring engineers through technical guidance and reviews.

Requirements

• More than 8 years of software development experience, including 3–5 years in a senior or staff engineering role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep proficiency in Java 11/17+, microservices, RESTful APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed system architecture.
• Experience with React, MobX, TypeScript, cloud platforms, SQL, NoSQL, data modelling, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Experience with JUnit, Jest, Playwright, code reviews, static analysis, and quality automation.
• Proven experience in workload automation, job scheduling, orchestration technologies, and production use of AI developer tools, including the ability to evaluate AI-generated code for architectural, security, and performance risks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Git, GitHub, Jira, and Bamboo.
• Strong curiosity and adaptability when learning new AI development tools and techniques.
