Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; office-based in West London four days per week with one remote day

Salary: Starting from £120,000 per year

What you will do

• Write high-quality, performant backend code primarily in Go.
• Build new microservices and responsibly migrate away from legacy services and the Ruby monolith.
• Translate product requirements into concrete technical designs with product managers, designers, and data scientists.
• Optimize systems for responsiveness, low latency, reliability, and heavy traffic.
• Apply TDD, DDD, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and experience with Go or another strong programming language such as Python, C++, or Ruby.
• In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Upper-Intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher and confidence discussing technical trade-offs.

Nice to have

• Experience with gRPC or Thrift.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
