Senior Software Engineer, Code Search

What you will do

• Develop, scale, operate, and extend Blackbird, hirify.global’s lexical and semantic code search engine.
• Design, prototype, implement, test, ship, and support globally scalable code search services.
• Own system health and quality, participate in on-call and first-responder rotations, and use service health indicators to prioritize work.
• Build automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability, security controls, compliance evidence, and developer tooling.
• Design APIs, write architecture proposals, run experiments, and build prototypes for planetary-scale systems.
• Collaborate with staff and principal engineers, partner teams, and project stakeholders across the Copilot Agents organization.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of relevant software engineering experience, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• Production software development experience with languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and reliability engineering.
• Ability to work autonomously, learn quickly, communicate clearly, and set technical direction.
• Understanding of production monitoring and observability across networking, applications, caching, queuing, load balancing, storage, and distributed service layers.
• Strong testing practices and experience with high-quality production software; systems programming, search index internals, information retrieval, and large-scale distributed systems experience are valued.
