Senior Backend Engineer, Core DevOps (AI)

What you will do

• Design, implement, and evolve moderate-to-complex backend features with minimal guidance.
• Choose appropriate architectures across modular monoliths, shared components, and independently operated services.
• Define and improve standards for backend code quality, maintainability, testing, APIs, security, performance, and operational readiness.
• Diagnose and prevent reliability and performance issues at scale, participate in incident response, and take technical ownership.
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design reviews.
• Integrate agentic AI into production engineering workflows and evaluate its effectiveness.

Requirements

• Strong backend architecture, API, data systems, and performance-tuning expertise.
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and a deep understanding of systems programming.
• Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures.
• Ability to lead through technical influence, sound judgment, and clear written communication.
• Proven experience building or operating agentic systems in production, including loops, tool use, and error-handling strategies.
• Ability to work remotely from the United Kingdom or within the role's stated global remote eligibility framework.
