Mechanical Design Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $96,000–$115,000 per year

What you will do

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, structures, mechanisms, and electronics packaging through concept, detailed design, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
• Perform engineering analyses, calculations, tolerance studies, structural evaluations, thermal simulations, vibration and shock analyses, and design trade studies.
• Create and review CAD models, engineering drawings, technical reports, bills of materials, and configuration-controlled documentation.
• Support mechanical testing, verification, validation, qualification, manufacturing reviews, engineering changes, and corrective actions.
• Analyze test, inspection, and manufacturing data to identify trends, investigate root causes, and improve performance, manufacturability, reliability, and quality.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams, and present design reviews to customers and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of industry experience designing and analyzing electronics packaging, including thermal, vibration, and stress dynamics, or spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
• Experience with professional mechanical and FEA CAD tools, such as SolidWorks Simulation.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing, EMI/EMC mitigation, thermal management, GD&T, and finite element analysis.
• Familiarity with electronics assemblies and collaboration with electrical engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
