Mechanical Engineer V - Design (Aerospace)

Location: Reno, Nevada; Folsom, California; Huntsville, Alabama; or remote within the United States. Travel of approximately 10% may be required.

Salary: $130,000–$200,000 USD annually, depending on location.

What you will do

• Design and optimize actuators, specialized igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motor systems, hot gas valves, and rocket thrusters.
• Create advanced 2D and 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and GD&T-based dimensional and tolerance requirements.
• Perform structural, dynamic, thermal, simulation, mass, tolerance, and system performance analyses.
• Evaluate ceramics, insulators, refractory metals, and other materials for challenging high-temperature applications.
• Support additive manufacturing, machining, composites, molding, casting, welding, assembly, quality control, and nondestructive testing.
• Develop test plans, operate measurement systems, analyze test data, and contribute to systems engineering, procurement, and risk management.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required authorization.
• 10–15 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Advanced experience in mechanical design, CAD, analysis, materials, manufacturing, testing, and systems engineering.
