Software Development Engineer in Test (Playwright/TypeScript)

Location: Lansing, Michigan; must be local for on-site interviews and four days of on-site work. No remote option. The role may require ADP I or II clearance and U.S. citizenship or naturalized citizenship.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain UI and API automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Expand the Playwright framework with reusable fixtures, API clients, utilities, and coding standards.
• Create automated coverage for Angular applications and Java-based REST APIs, integrating execution through Jenkins.
• Investigate failures using Playwright traces, application logs, network activity, API responses, and SQL.
• Validate application processing and backend data with Oracle SQL while performing exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and risk-based manual testing.
• Review requirements, collaborate with developers, product owners, and testers, participate in code reviews, and improve suite reliability by addressing flaky, redundant, slow, or low-value tests.

Requirements

• Local to Lansing, Michigan and able to work on-site four days per week; no remote option.
• U.S. citizenship or naturalized citizenship may be required for assignments involving ADP I or II clearance.
• Hands-on Playwright and TypeScript experience for UI and API automation, with strong TypeScript programming fundamentals.
• Experience designing maintainable automation for modern web applications, preferably Angular, and testing Java-based REST APIs.
• Strong knowledge of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication, response validation, negative API testing, SQL, and preferably Oracle.
• Experience with Jenkins or another CI/CD platform, Git-based workflows, exploratory and manual testing, and diagnosing issues across application and environment layers.
