Lead Software Quality Test Engineer (Playwright)

Location: Remote, must be based in the Chicago area; onsite interviews may be required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $135,300–$169,150 base salary annually, with potential bonus and equity eligibility depending on level and role.

What you will do

• Lead the development of software testing and automation processes, practices, tools, and strategies.
• Design, implement, and execute automated functional, integration, system-wide, regression, security, and performance tests.
• Build regression suites that exercise new and existing production code across the Dealer Inspire platform.
• Measure test coverage, analyze results, and communicate quality metrics and conclusions to stakeholders.
• Integrate testing practices throughout the software development lifecycle and collaborate with engineers and product managers.
• Mentor SDETs and engineers, educate project teams, and influence testing standards across the organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Engineer in Test, or in a related function.
• In-depth experience testing web applications at the web service and UI layers using Playwright.
• Advanced knowledge of debugging, software development languages, testing tools, and troubleshooting.
• Experience collecting and analyzing test data, coverage, and results.
• Strong mentoring, communication, technical leadership, and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Must be based in the Chicago area and authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Full-stack testing experience and experience with mock services.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Node, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, Rust, MySQL, or job queue and messaging systems.
• Experience leading projects or serving as a team lead.
