Quality Assurance Engineer (Test Automation)

Location: Irving, Texas; onsite five days a week. Up to 10% travel is required. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $112,710–$183,140 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain automated API, business-flow, contract, and end-to-end UI tests for MineStar microservices.
• Test REST and Protobuf endpoints, including negative, boundary, schema-validation, authorization, and MQTT event-side-effect scenarios.
• Automate Angular web application journeys with Playwright, TypeScript, API-first setup, reusable fixtures, page objects, and RBAC permutations.
• Configure and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, monitor executions, triage failures, and reduce flakiness to root cause.
• Support test environments and test data on Kubernetes, including troubleshooting logs, certificates, mTLS, and RBAC failures.
• Partner with engineers and product roles on shift-left quality practices, code reviews, mentoring, documentation, and quality reporting.

Requirements

• Strong experience with automated testing across API, business-flow, and end-to-end UI layers in microservices environments.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or strong JavaScript experience with the ability to ramp up in TypeScript; Java, C#, or typed Python experience may also be considered.
• Experience with Playwright, REST API testing, CI/CD troubleshooting, and automated test execution in CI.
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile delivery, shift-left testing, BDD or Cucumber collaboration practices, risk-based testing, and exploratory testing.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, mentoring, and test-design skills.

Nice to have

• Protobuf or gRPC, MQTT, Kubernetes, containerized-platform, or event-driven testing experience.
• Java reading literacy, mining or industrial automation experience, or a safety-critical domain background.
• Performance and load testing with k6, JMeter, or Gatling, including CI regression thresholds.
