High Voltage Electrical Technical Operations Specialist - Battery Cell Development Center

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States. Onsite, with full-time reporting to the designated location. The role requires working any shift in a 24/7 coverage model, including weekends and holidays as needed. Travel to suppliers may be required. What you will do

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and commission electrical distribution, formation, battery test, automation, and utility systems.
• Perform high-voltage isolation, absence-of-voltage verification, grounding, switching, re-energization, and return-to-service activities within authorization.
• Diagnose AC/DC faults and troubleshoot PLC I/O, HMIs, drives, instrumentation, sensors, safety circuits, interlocks, and industrial networks.
• Complete preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while documenting equipment changes and return-to-service status.
• Support equipment startup, debugging, upgrades, acceptance testing, supplier FAT/SAT, field troubleshooting, and reliability improvements.
• Train operators and peers and communicate equipment status, risks, repair timelines, and escalation needs.

Requirements

• Technical degree, completed four-year apprenticeship, electrical journeyman's license, or equivalent education and experience.
• High-voltage electrical certification, authorization, or documented training appropriate to the supported systems and voltage levels.
• At least three years of hands-on experience as an electrical, industrial, maintenance, or controls technician.
• Experience with electrical safe-work practices, lockout/tagout, hazardous energy control, and absence-of-voltage verification.
• Ability to troubleshoot AC/DC power, controls, motor controls, drives, instrumentation, sensors, safety circuits, and PLC-based systems; read schematics and safely use electrical test equipment.
• Immigration-related sponsorship is not provided, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 support.

Nice to have

• Experience with lithium-ion battery manufacturing, formation, electrical testing, high-voltage battery systems, power conversion, or energy-storage equipment.
• Experience with arc-flash assessments, medium-voltage systems, electrical safety programs, or energized-work planning.
• Experience with Siemens PLCs and HMIs, industrial networks, Fanuc robotics, automated material handling, or machine safety systems.
• Experience with pilot-line development, startup, commissioning, machine runoffs, capability studies, root-cause analysis, or reliability-centered maintenance.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion manufacturing hazards, hazardous materials, and process safety management.
