Operations Manager (Metal Distribution)

Location: On-site at the Santa Teresa, New Mexico facility; regular floor presence and availability to support all shifts in a 24-hour operation are required.

Salary: $91,000–$105,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead daily operations across all shifts, including receiving, storage, processing, packaging, shipping, and fulfillment.
• Build supervisor capability through coaching, clear priorities, feedback, and decision-making support.
• Lead a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with equipment procedures, legal requirements, and site standards.
• Manage customer service performance, order accuracy, inventory control, material flow, and equipment utilization.
• Use operational data to identify constraints, improve productivity, and drive root-cause problem solving.
• Coordinate with customer service, planning, sales, quality, purchasing, transportation, maintenance, and other support functions.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive operations leadership experience, including 3–5 years managing supervisors or team leaders.
• Experience in distribution, metal service centers, manufacturing, logistics, or industrial operations.
• Strong safety leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and accountability skills.
• Experience managing labor planning, overtime, attendance, productivity, shift coverage, inventory control, and shipping accuracy.
• Ability to work flexible hours and support evening, night, weekend, or urgent operational needs.
• Comfort working on-site in an industrial environment with heavy material handling, mobile equipment, warehouse traffic, and production or distribution activity.

Nice to have

• Experience with metal products such as copper, aluminum, steel, or other industrial materials.
• Experience with cranes, forklifts, racking, saws, heavy material handling, and metal product storage.
• Experience with ERP or WMS systems, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, 5S, visual management, or daily management systems.
• Experience leading union or non-union hourly teams and supporting OEM or time-sensitive customer requirements.
