Head of Logistics (Aerospace)

Location: Logistics operations across the main plant and outsourced warehouses; the company operates in Augsburg, Bremen and Kourou. Mobile working is available according to the area of responsibility.

What you will do

• Take overall responsibility for goods receipt, warehousing, stock levels, internal transport, production supply, dispatch, customs and waste-disposal logistics.
• Lead two logistics team leaders and develop managers and operational staff through clear expectations, shop-floor presence and transparent decisions.
• Ensure safe, reliable operations for large components, frozen goods and hazardous substances across internal and outsourced warehouse locations.
• Develop cross-site material-flow and capacity plans covering floor space, storage, order picking, buffers, containers, transport and production supply.
• Establish logistics engineering, apply Lean methods and introduce KPI-based shop-floor management to improve stability, handling, inventory and cost efficiency.
• Further develop SAP R/3 and WM processes, improve data and posting quality, and represent logistics in projects involving planning, production, quality, procurement and facilities.

Requirements

• Degree in logistics, materials management, industrial engineering or a related field, or comparable vocational training with extensive practical experience.
• Several years of management experience in industrial logistics, including operational team leadership and strategic development of material flows, processes or sites.
• Strong knowledge of industrial warehouse and production logistics, material-flow planning, warehouse layout, capacity planning and container concepts.
• Very strong practical and systematic knowledge of SAP R/3 and WM, including inventory, warehouse processes, posting logic, material movements and interfaces.
• Experience with KPI systems, shop-floor management, Lean improvements, shipping, customs, health and safety, and specialised stored goods.
• Good command of English required. Applications may be submitted in German or English.
