Senior Data Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Tallinn, Estonia; hybrid setup with a work-from-home option

What you will do

• Own the architecture of a governed data access layer for dashboards, applications, and AI agents.
• Define data contracts, versioning, documentation, SLAs, and self-service onboarding for product teams.
• Design transactional and analytical schemas and lead the migration of existing datasets.
• Build AI-facing interfaces with scoped permissions, metadata exposure, and auditable access.
• Improve scalability, reliability, and cost across Spark, Iceberg, Airflow, Redshift, and AWS.
• Own data lineage, quality checks, sensitive-data isolation, and technical direction across multiple teams.

Requirements

• Experience in data or backend engineering with strong Python and production API experience.
• Hands-on GraphQL design experience; Hasura experience is beneficial.
• Strong relational database skills, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning for MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar systems.
• Experience with Airflow and lakehouse technologies such as Spark, Iceberg, Redshift, or Athena.
• Experience writing and reviewing system design documents.
• Practical experience applying AI to engineering or data work and using AI coding tools.

Nice to have

• MCP servers or RAG pipelines.
• Agent evaluation harnesses and AI observability.
• LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Agents SDK, or other orchestration frameworks.
• Guardrails, prompt-injection defense, and Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
