Lead Data Engineer (Azure)

Salary: EUR 2,800–4,550 gross per month. Final compensation depends on experience, location, and professional growth.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and operationalization of scalable data engineering solutions for the Sunrise programme.
• Build a secure enterprise data and analytics platform using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, and Apache Spark.
• Design ingestion, ETL/ELT, transformation, validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and data quality processes for enterprise source systems.
• Implement medallion architecture with Data Vault for Bronze/Silver layers and Kimball dimensional modeling for Gold and reporting layers.
• Develop curated datasets, analytical data products, regulatory reporting feeds, reusable frameworks, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, engineers, and the client’s Principal Data Engineer on technical design, code reviews, production support, governance, lineage, security, and AI-enabled engineering automation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of commercial experience in data engineering and experience designing greenfield enterprise data platforms or reusable frameworks.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, SQL, and ETL/ELT.
• Strong Azure DevOps experience, including YAML pipelines and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Understanding of medallion architecture, Data Vault, Kimball dimensional modeling, data governance, metadata, lineage, security, access control, data quality, and monitoring.
• English at Intermediate+ level or above is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with business analysts, data analysts, architects, and engineering teams in Agile environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Sapiens, regulated industries, financial services, insurance, retail, regulatory reporting, or audit requirements.
• Experience with Fabric Data Factory, Lakehouse, Data Mesh, event-driven integration, Power BI, or semantic modeling.
• Experience with AI-assisted software engineering, agentic AI solutions, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud automation.
• Associate certification.
