Lead Deployed AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in London or Leeds, United Kingdom

Salary: £92,000–£115,000 per annum

What you will do

• Build working AI proofs on real client data during assessment engagements.
• Deliver client POCs and MVPs using RAG pipelines, agent architectures, LLM integrations, MCP, and tool orchestration.
• Design production-ready systems with guardrails, security, estate integration, scalability, and telemetry.
• Create golden datasets, automated evaluation pipelines, accuracy monitoring, and drift monitoring to validate AI system trustworthiness.
• Own and evolve the internal AI platform, turning field-tested patterns into reusable accelerators, templates, and playbooks.
• Lead technical sessions, upskill client engineers, and evaluate emerging AI tools, frameworks, and protocols.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering foundations, including clean code, testing, CI/CD, and a production mindset.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, API integrations, prompt engineering, agent workflows, or RAG systems.
• Proficiency in at least two modern programming languages.
• Awareness of evolving AI tooling such as MCP, A2A, or similar protocols.
• Consultancy or client-facing experience, or a strong interest in moving into client-facing work.
• Availability for hybrid work in London or Leeds, United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, or fine-tuning.
• Cloud experience, preferably AWS.
• Open-source contributions or visible AI side projects.
• Experience shipping AI-powered features to production.
