Salary: £86,000–£110,000 per annum

is hiring for a well-established UK business in a regulated sector that is building a dedicated AI engineering team.
What you will do
- Partner with business teams to define, design, build, and deploy AI solutions for operational problems.
- Take prototypes through to stable production systems with clear ownership and measurable results.
- Build Python pipelines combining deterministic processing with LLM calls, orchestration, structured output, tool use, agents, and RAG.
- Deploy data science models into customer-facing production, including serving, integration, monitoring, and alerting.
- Implement evaluation, guardrails, PII handling, prompt-injection protection, human-in-the-loop workflows, and cost controls.
- Turn successful project patterns into shared tools, safe defaults, and reusable business systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
- Production Python experience as a primary programming language.
- Experience building and shipping LLM-based systems that have operated in production.
- Experience designing evaluation sets, measuring LLM accuracy, and regression-testing prompts and workflows.
- Practical experience with safety, including PII handling, data boundaries, prompt-injection awareness, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, monitoring, alerting, and data processing pipelines.
Nice to have
- Experience as a consultant, forward deployed engineer, or internal platform engineer working directly with non-engineering users.
- Experience improving LLM performance and affordability through model selection, caching, or batching.
