Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Staines-upon-Thames, England, United Kingdom; flexible hybrid work opportunities are available, with travel to customer sites as needed up to approximately 50%.

Salary: £75,000–£110,000 annually plus bonus

What you will do

• Partner with Solutions Consultants, Account Executives, Product, and R&D on strategic customer opportunities.
• Own discovery, technical scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff.
• Build and deploy prototypes using customer data to prove business value within deal timelines.
• Engineer production solutions for security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and enterprise integration.
• Measure adoption, workflow impact, reliability, and time-to-value with technical and business stakeholders.
• Turn validated customer patterns into reusable accelerators, roadmap investments, and platform improvements.

Requirements

• Customer-facing and commercial ability, including technical discovery and value conversations with technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience with LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, and agent orchestration.
• Understanding of enterprise integrations, REST and streaming APIs, authentication, and systems such as ArcGIS, Maximo, SAP, Oracle, and PowerBI.
• Software or data engineering experience with production-quality code; familiarity with Angular, Python or a similar language, SQL, data modeling, and data pipelines.
• Ability to work with imperfect customer data and experience with observability, performance, and production systems.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, up to approximately 50%.

Nice to have

• Experience in utilities, energy, transportation, or capital and asset investment planning.
• Customer-facing technical work, solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or startup experience.
• Experience deploying AI in enterprise or regulated environments.
