Application Support Analyst (SQL)

Location: Cape Town, South Africa office; hybrid model with 3 days working from home per week. Working hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm GST, Sunday through Thursday.

What you will do

• Write, troubleshoot, review, and optimise SQL queries, scripts, and Oracle PL/SQL code.
• Own complex database-driven support cases and act as an escalation point for advanced application and database issues.
• Perform root cause analysis across database structures, queries, and data integrity.
• Work with clients to gather requirements and deliver SQL-based solutions while meeting SLAs and KPIs.
• Document troubleshooting steps, SQL scripts, and best practices, and participate in UAT.
• Mentor junior analysts in SQL development and debugging approaches.

Requirements

• 4–6+ years of experience in application or technical support within enterprise software.
• Strong practical experience writing complex SQL queries from scratch and solving business problems with SQL.
• Hands-on Oracle PL/SQL experience, including stored procedures, triggers, and packages.
• Experience with query performance tuning, including indexes, execution plans, and optimisation techniques.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, data structures, large datasets, and structured problem-solving.
• Fluent English required; availability for Middle East hours and South Africa hybrid office work required.
