Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Cardiff, London, or remote within the UK; occasional meetings in London may be required.

Salary: £95,000–£130,000 per year, plus performance-based incentive awards.

What you will do

• Build and maintain the cloud infrastructure supporting hirify.global’s technology teams, including Kubernetes clusters, service mesh, and networking.
• Manage AWS and GCP infrastructure and configuration using Terraform.
• Integrate and operate open-source components that provide scalable platform primitives.
• Design and implement backend services, APIs, and controllers that provide self-service infrastructure capabilities.
• Develop software for infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, and security tooling.
• Enable platform teams to solve customer problems by abstracting infrastructure complexity.

Requirements

• Significant professional software engineering experience building, testing, and deploying robust backend services in strongly typed languages.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP and proficiency with Kubernetes.
• Experience solving problems through automation and using infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
• Understanding of how distributed applications fail and scale, with curiosity about complex systems.
• Ability to build reliable, performant platforms that improve developer experience and to work with ambiguity.
• Ability to work from within the UK; the role can be London-based or distributed across the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Envoy Proxy, or both AWS and GCP.
