Senior Counsel - Risk & Enforcement

Location: United States; remote position

Annual salary: $112,500–$151,875 gross before taxes

What you will do

• Lead strategy for intellectual property and technology-related disputes involving trade secrets, patents, copyrights, open source, and software licensing.
• Advise product, engineering, security, commercial, and business teams on complex technical disputes and legal risk.
• Develop litigation prevention and readiness frameworks covering legal holds, preservation, evidence collection, investigations, and escalation.
• Lead customer license compliance and enforcement matters, including audits, negotiations, and resolution strategies.
• Manage disputes with vendors, partners, competitors, and other third parties, including outside counsel, experts, and e-discovery providers.
• Advise senior leadership, deliver legal training, and improve discovery readiness, information governance, and repeatable litigation workflows.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and good standing with at least one State Bar.
• At least 10 years of total experience, including 5 years in law firm litigation and significant in-house experience.
• At least 5 years managing intellectual property or technology-related disputes involving software, trade secrets, copyright, patents, licensing, or open source.
• Hands-on experience with litigation strategy, internal investigations, preservation, discovery, expert development, settlement analysis, and outside counsel management.
• Deep technical fluency in software and the ability to work substantively with engineers and product managers.
• Strong senior leadership, communication, organizational, judgment, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Engineering, computer science, or another relevant technical degree.
• Experience in software or other high-technology industries.
