Maintenance Mechanic (Heavy Equipment)

What you will do

• Repair, rebuild, overhaul, and maintain fleet vehicles, cranes, forklifts, trucks, loaders, backhoes, graders, sweepers, and other powered equipment.
• Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, ignition systems, fuel injection, and vehicle electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including fluid servicing, lubrication, brake and tire repairs, chassis work, and safety equipment installation.
• Weld, fabricate, modify, retrofit, and adapt equipment and replacement parts.
• Order and stock repair parts, maintain work records, test completed repairs, and ensure timely equipment performance.
• Respond to emergency callouts, provide technical guidance when needed, and follow shop safety and regulatory procedures.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of relevant experience and a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematics and experience with ladder logic and PLC programming.
• Experience diagnosing bulk material handling equipment and installing drive motors, conveyors, and pulley assemblies.
• Proficiency with hand and machine tools, testing equipment, welders, torches, and vehicle repair equipment.
• Ability to work in temperature extremes, adverse weather, and emergency situations with short notice.
• Must be able to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card).
