Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Diesel)

Location: Itasca, TX, USA. Local onsite work with no travel; home every night. Nearby applicants may come from Alvarado, Cleburne, Hillsboro, Whitney, Abbott, Covington, Grand View, Woodbury, Ross, Carl's Corner, Milford, Cuba, or Maypearl, Texas.

Salary: $35/hour starting pay, with pay based on experience. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is also offered.

What you will do

• Repair and maintain heavy equipment, compact equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks.
• Diagnose and service diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulics, brakes, electrical systems, suspension, tires, and undercarriages.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections, engine overhauls, and repairs to maximize safe and productive operations.
• Interpret equipment condition reports, repair orders, oil analyses, onboard computer data, and fleet management software information.
• Document parts usage, work order times, consumables, fuel, and oil usage.
• Follow safety policies and communicate with supervisors and operators about defects and preventative techniques.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a heavy equipment technician.
• Advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel-end components.
• Mechanical trade school certificate or degree and a certificate in electrical diagnostics.
• Applicable ASE certifications and working knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems.
• At least 1 year of experience applying OSHA HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, and Fire Protection regulations.
• Welding or fabrication skills and experience.
