TL;DR
Process Engineer (Manufacturing) (Lean/Continuous Improvement): Improving manufacturing processes and equipment across safety, quality, yield, variation, and throughput with an accent on structured troubleshooting, machine vision inspection, process capability studies, and Design of Experiments. Focus on identifying root causes, validating corrective actions, maintaining PFMEAs and process controls, and leading cross-functional operational improvement projects.

Location: Charter Wire, 81st Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; onsite role. First shift, Monday–Friday, supporting a 24/5 operation. Occasional off-shift or phone support may be required.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for manufacturing process improvement across safety, quality, yield, variation, scrap, and throughput.
  • Observe production-floor processes, analyze performance data, lead structured troubleshooting, identify root causes, and verify corrective actions.
  • Evaluate equipment, tooling, setups, materials, inspection methods, and operator-machine interactions, including machine vision inspection systems.
  • Design and analyze capability studies, controlled production trials, and Design of Experiments to validate process changes and operating limits.
  • Lead corrective and preventive actions, PFMEA development, process control planning, and alignment of process documentation with production practices.
  • Coordinate new product, material, equipment, heat treat, and operational improvement projects, including equipment selection, installation, and performance validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience improving processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, SPC, PFMEA, control plans, process flows, and part routings.
  • Technical understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, flow, layout, and assembly, with basic 2D/3D CAD skills.
  • Strong analytical, written, oral communication, teamwork, leadership, and project-management skills.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Five or more years leading safety, quality, or process improvement teams in manufacturing.
  • Five or more years of heat treat experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher and demonstrated lean/continuous improvement success.
  • Experience with value-stream improvement, Kaizen projects, SolidWorks, Pro-E, statistical software, or process-mapping tools.
