Engineer 1 (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Seattle, Washington; on-site work required 4 days per week.

Salary: $104,500–$162,500 annually for Engineer 1. A separate Engineer 2 range of $121,500–$188,500 is also listed.

What you will do

• Build and enhance APIs, web applications, microservices, CI/CD automation, unit tests, and behavior-driven tests.
• Design, document, implement, and launch robust solutions for complex merchandise-planning business problems.
• Translate business needs into functional requirements and explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to architecture, code reviews, proof-of-concept implementations, and scalable maintainable software.
• Implement and support monitoring, alerting, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure with a DevOps mindset.
• Handle escalated defects, provide on-call support, and perform root cause analysis to improve reliability.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of professional engineering experience; recent graduates are welcome.
• Strong object-oriented design skills and proficiency in Java; knowledge of Python, data structures, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of RESTful architecture, microservices, JSON, XML, databases, and software testing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably computer science, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work on site in Seattle 4 days per week.

Nice to have

• AWS proficiency and experience with cloud technologies.
• React knowledge, NoSQL familiarity, and experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
