Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: Montreal, Canada; on-site

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and ship reliable, secure, and scalable backend systems.
• Own implementation from design through deployment, with a focus on maintainability and performance.
• Participate in architecture, technical scoping, estimation, code reviews, and design discussions.
• Refactor legacy code while maintaining feature continuity and reducing technical debt.
• Handle incident response, root cause analysis, production readiness, and observability improvements.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver platform features and infrastructure work.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of production experience with Go.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Familiarity with RabbitMQ or Kafka, Git, and CI/CD tooling.
• Working knowledge of React and/or Next.js, plus basic understanding of cloud platforms; GCP is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience building scalable and secure Login-as-a-Service or multi-tenant identity platforms.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, JWT, session and token management, social login, SSO, and federated identity.
• Experience delivering developer-friendly APIs, SDKs, and integration documentation.
• Strong English communication skills for technical and non-technical topics.
