Senior Scientist, Antibody Characterization (Biotech)

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States; onsite, hands-on laboratory position

Base salary: $136,000–$170,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.

Biotech startup developing generative AI and foundation models for protein therapeutics, drug discovery, target elucidation, and patient stratification.

What you will do

• Support the discovery and development of therapeutic molecules through hands-on laboratory work.
• Characterize monoclonal, bispecific, and other antibody-like molecules using BLI and SPR platforms, including Carterra and Biacore.
• Screen antibodies for off-target binding, poly-specificity, and poly-reactivity using BVP ELISA and related assays.
• Perform early developability assessments using SPR, DLS, DSF, SEC, and ELISA.
• Analyze experimental data, curate results, prepare reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
• Maintain ELN records, follow laboratory safety protocols, and support assay automation and lab operations.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline with 5+ years of industry experience, or BS/MS with 10+ years of industry experience in biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, or a related field.
• Extensive antibody screening experience covering monoclonal, bispecific, and other antibody-like molecules.
• Hands-on experience with ELISA, BLI, and SPR-based platforms.
• Basic knowledge of protein production, purification, and characterization techniques, including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, DLS, DSF, and SEC.
• Proficiency with data analysis and statistical tools such as GraphPad Prism.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, collaboration, and independent working skills.
