What you will do

• Build high-throughput platforms for identifying and measuring protein-protein interactions.
• Lead phage display campaigns from library construction and panning through NGS and hit validation.
• Design and troubleshoot selection strategies, including antigen selection, library quality control, and stringency selections.
• Build and validate assays and define controls and quality criteria for screening output.
• Plan targets, assays, and readouts with ML and protein design scientists.
• Convert binding data into datasets suitable for model training and evaluation.

Requirements

• MS with 3+ years of industry experience or PhD with 0–2 years of industry experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, protein engineering, biophysics, immunology, or a related discipline.
• Deep hands-on experience with phage display and antibody discovery is required.
• Strong molecular biology skills for library construction.
• Understanding of NGS-based screening and quantitative analysis of sequencing data.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with careful attention to detail and record-keeping.
• Ability to work on-site in Emeryville, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with therapeutic antibody optimization, including affinity maturation, developability, and format engineering.
• Experience measuring binding kinetics and affinity with SPR or BLI/Octet, and performing epitope mapping.
• Familiarity with yeast, mammalian, ribosome, or mRNA display systems.
• Familiarity with Hamilton or Tecan laboratory automation platforms.
• Experience moving assays or platforms into routine use, with familiarity with LIMS and data or metadata schemas.
