WC Loss Time Claims Adjuster (Workers' Compensation)

Salary: $55,000–$95,000 annual

What you will do

• Manage New York workers’ compensation claims from initial investigation through settlement.
• Investigate compensability through interviews with employers, claimants, and healthcare providers.
• File required FROI and SROI forms with the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board and other parties.
• Establish reserves, authorize payments and treatment, and review medical bills under applicable guidelines and authority limits.
• Coordinate independent medical examinations, counsel, hearings, excess-carrier reporting, vendor referrals, recoveries, and strategic case planning.
• Respond to claim-related inquiries and negotiate settlements.

Requirements

• New York State license required or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Prior experience adjusting New York State workers’ compensation claims.
• Exceptional telephone demeanor.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Volunteer firefighter claims-handling experience.
• Experience handling 207(a) and 207(b) claims.
