What you will do

• Investigate workers' compensation claims by assessing coverage, compensability, medical conditions, and statements from involved parties.
• Establish and update reserves, evaluate claim exposure, and maintain accurate file documentation.
• Coordinate medical treatment, return-to-work plans, vocational rehabilitation, and other claim resolution strategies.
• Collaborate with medical, legal, and internal specialty resources to manage litigation and resolve statutory benefit issues.
• Negotiate settlements, including structured settlements and annuities where appropriate.
• Identify fraud, offsets, apportionment, contribution, and subrogation opportunities while managing files toward timely closure.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of workers' compensation claim handling experience or successful completion of a workers' compensation trainee program; 2 years of experience is preferred for the role.
• Knowledge of insurance contracts, workers' compensation products, medical conditions, investigations, legal requirements, and settlement techniques.
• Intermediate negotiation, analytical, investigative, valuation, and claims resolution skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly, present file resolutions, collaborate with stakeholders, and work within applicable state jurisdictional requirements.
• Required insurance licenses may need to be obtained within three months of starting and maintained through continuing education.
