Mechanical Engineer - Vehicle Development (Electric Drive Mining Trucks)

Location: Peoria, Illinois, USA — onsite position

Salary: $85,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for electric drive mining haul trucks from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
• Present design concepts and recommendations to engineering peers, stakeholders, and management.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, testing, validation teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Develop and execute validation plans using hand calculations, bench testing, and field testing.
• Release parts and assemblies into the production system and support engineering process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in engineering analysis, design, machine applications, or the mining industry.
• Experience with computer-aided design and/or computer-aided engineering tools.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to support design decisions, documentation, validation, manufacturability, and cost targets.

Nice to have

• Participation in Lean Engineering implementation.
• Experience with change management implementation.
• Professional registration or membership in technical committees or societies.
