Design Engineering Specialist - Large Advanced Technology Motors and Generators (Electric Machines)

Location: Mossville, Illinois or Noblesville, Indiana; onsite five days per week. Domestic relocation is available. Travel is expected at 20% or less.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for large advanced technology motor and generator development.
• Set technical direction for motor architecture, electromagnetic performance, durability, thermal management, manufacturability, and validation.
• Lead New Technology Introduction initiatives and develop technology maturation plans for future product applications.
• Resolve complex design, validation, manufacturing, and field-performance challenges.
• Translate machine-level requirements into electric machine solutions and develop scalable production strategies with manufacturing teams.
• Influence technical decisions across engineering, manufacturing, validation, supply chain, and product organizations while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting complex technical problems in manufacturing or product development environments.
• Experience leading product development projects from concept through production implementation and managing technical risks and trade-offs.
• Demonstrated expertise in electric machine design, analysis, development, and validation.
• Strong project management, communication, stakeholder alignment, and technical leadership skills.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep expertise in advanced technology motor design and electromagnetic design or simulation tools.
• Experience with traction motors, mining equipment electrification, or heavy-duty off-highway applications.
• Knowledge of motor manufacturing, rotor design, magnet retention, insulation systems, and durability validation.
• Experience transitioning technologies from New Technology Introduction to New Product Introduction programs and mentoring engineers.
