Location: Garden Grove, California, United States; onsite role with domestic and international travel as required.

Salary: $170,000–$190,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Define and implement manufacturing equipment and process strategies for electric drive unit and electrified chassis production.
  • Lead the full equipment lifecycle, including requirements, supplier selection, design reviews, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, ramp-up, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan layouts and install new powertrain assembly lines, integrating utilities, automation cells, high-voltage power, and material handling systems.
  • Provide technical leadership for precision automation, servo and torque control, process monitoring, metrology, nondestructive testing, and electric motor dynamometer testing.
  • Lead design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly improvements for EDU and chassis components.
  • Manage equipment suppliers and cross-functional execution with Product Design, Quality, Controls, and Operations teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of advanced manufacturing engineering experience, including 8+ years focused on high-precision electric drive unit, drivetrain, or highly automated chassis manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Expertise in motor and gearbox assembly processes, including rotor/stator assembly, winding, precision balancing, pressing, dispensing, and automated leak and pressure testing.
  • Experience bringing complex automated equipment from concept through high-volume production and leading multi-million-dollar equipment projects.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or CATIA; experience with simulation software such as Delmia is a plus.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, SPC, DOE, 8D root cause analysis, PFMEA, and Control Plans.

Nice to have

  • Startup experience and experience scaling production rapidly.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience; Black Belt preferred.
  • PMP or similar certification.
