Senior Mechanical Drives Engineer (Marine Propulsion)

Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States; hybrid workplace. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $86,500–$126,800 annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, validation, and production release of mechanical drivetrain systems and components.
• Develop solutions that improve performance, durability, efficiency, manufacturability, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Perform engineering analysis of gears, shafts, bearings, housings, seals, clutches, and shift systems using analytical and simulation tools.
• Lead concept generation, competitive benchmarking, trade studies, technology development, and validation activities.
• Investigate field, warranty, testing, and manufacturing issues; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with manufacturing, supplier quality, purchasing, service, and product engineering teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, drivetrain systems, power transmission, or related engineering fields.
• Experience leading engineering projects from concept through production implementation.
• Strong knowledge of gears, bearings, shafts, sealing systems, mechanical power transmission, root cause analysis, failure investigations, corrective actions, and validation testing.
• Strong communication, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with engineering documentation and GD&T.

Nice to have

• Experience with marine propulsion, powertrain, or industrial drivetrain products.
• Experience with Creo, Teamcenter, or comparable CAD/PLM systems.
• Advanced knowledge of design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, Six Sigma, DFSS, DMAIC, Shainin, FEA, durability analysis, bearing analysis, or gear design.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
