Construction Representative, Transmission

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, United States; onsite field work at transmission and distribution facilities, substations, rights-of-way, and remote job sites. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required, with emergency restoration assignments and possible extended hours.

Annual salary: $106,090–$111,394, plus incentive.

What you will do

• Oversee contractor construction and maintenance activities for transmission lines, substations, and system enhancement projects.
• Inspect field work and ensure compliance with project plans, engineering practices, safety standards, environmental regulations, codes, and contract documents.
• Provide daily project reporting covering progress, costs, schedules, procurement, safety, environmental concerns, design questions, and project impacts.
• Coordinate materials, switching instructions, clearances, substation escorts, timesheets, invoices, change orders, and project closeout activities.
• Participate in planning, site walkdowns, constructability reviews, project meetings, stakeholder coordination, and outage sequencing.
• Conduct construction briefings, resolve safety issues, mentor department members, and support emergency restoration activities.

Requirements

• Three to five years of related construction experience; transmission systems experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an engineering, construction management, or related degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction methods, energy delivery power systems, applicable safety regulations, codes, and construction standards.
• OSHA training and the ability to obtain and maintain switching and tagging certification and substation escorting privileges for Type 3 Electrical work.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring sponsorship to start employment will not be considered.
