TL;DR
Sr Electrical Engineer - Instrumentation (Aerospace): Leading instrumentation design, testing, integration, and de-modification for next-generation airborne command-and-control aircraft with an accent on electrical system validation, measurement equipment calibration, and aerospace compliance. Focus on developing test plans, analyzing complex electrical systems, supporting ground and flight testing, and resolving instrumentation issues across multidisciplinary teams.

Location: Vandalia, Ohio, United States; office or hybrid environment. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

What you will do

  • Lead instrumentation activities from requirements development and design through laboratory testing, integration, test operations support, and de-modification.
  • Plan, participate in, and execute test plan development to produce objective, high-quality results.
  • Develop, modify, and implement standard operating procedures for instrumentation hardware and system design.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and test engineers to integrate instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain, document, and control NIST standards for calibration and verification of measurement equipment.
  • Analyze system performance data, troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues, and communicate technical information to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering or a related role.
  • Expert proficiency in electrical and electronic design and validation techniques.
  • Experience with computer-aided engineering tools and multidisciplinary design and development teams.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic federal regulations, including Electrical Wiring Interconnection System requirements.
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic FMEA and System Safety Assessment concepts.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with electrical CAD, circuit modeling, simulation, electrical load analysis, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of EMC, EMI, HIRF, and indirect effects of lightning requirements.
  • Experience with aerospace and defense systems, ground and flight test programs, and digital or analog circuit design.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, 1553, ARINC 429, CAN bus, and Curtiss-Wright or similar data acquisition systems.
