TL;DR
Instrumentation & Controls Engineer I (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, testing, and operating launch control, data acquisition, instrumentation, and camera systems for the Terran R rocket with an accent on PLC-based controls, high-speed data acquisition, and hazardous-area electrical systems. Focus on integrating pressure, temperature, flow, imaging, and control hardware in access-limited launch infrastructure and coordinating multidisciplinary launch-site work.

Location: Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States; on-site work is required at a government partner location and requires a U.S. government background check

Salary: $90,000–$136,000 USD annually, plus equity

What you will do

  • Design, develop, test, integrate, and operate launch control and data acquisition hardware, instrumentation, and cameras for the Terran R rocket.
  • Work with Beckhoff PLCs or similar control systems and support high-speed data acquisition.
  • Integrate and operate IP, SDI, and CoaXPress high-speed cameras.
  • Work with pressure, temperature, flow, level, accelerometer, solenoid valve, VFD, and heater instrumentation.
  • Assist with electrical system design for hazardous areas and install and operate wiring and hardware in access-limited launch infrastructure.
  • Gather requirements, plan schedules, and coordinate work with multidisciplinary groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Exposure to data acquisition hardware, PLC-based control systems, complex camera systems, and instrumentation selection and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary groups in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to clear a U.S. government background check for on-site work in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spacecraft and launch vehicle infrastructure design and operation.
  • Experience working at a rocket launch site.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or Zuken E3.
