Senior Power Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States. Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government for on-site work at a government partner location.

Salary: $130,000–$194,000 USD per year, plus equity and additional benefits.

What you will do

• Lead electrical project design and develop construction drawings for launch and processing facilities from requirements through installation and commissioning.
• Design and provide technical direction for 22.5 kV to 120 V electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, protection, controls, and sequencing.
• Own system requirements, design analyses, equipment selection, technical reviews, and resolution of integration, reliability, and operational challenges.
• Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, requests for proposals, bid packages, and bid evaluations while overseeing subcontractor technical work.
• Lead electrical installation, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning with construction, operations, and engineering teams.
• Help establish technical approaches and improve design standards for future launch and processing facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field and 6+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Independent experience developing electrical system designs through requirements development, analysis, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making.
• Experience with aerospace, utility, or industrial electrical systems involving power generation, distribution, redundancy, protection, controls, or other high-power applications.
• Experience owning electrical projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, or operations.
• Experience reviewing technical designs, resolving complex engineering issues, and guiding engineers, contractors, or cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication of technical decisions, risks, and recommendations to engineering, operations, construction, and management stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Orbital launch industry experience or hands-on experience with aviation or rocket ground power systems.
• Experience designing or commissioning medium- to high-power systems for utility, industrial, aerospace, or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience applying NFPA, military, NASA, or similar regulatory and technical requirements.
• Familiarity with crane, elevator, or similar integrated control and power systems.
