Principal Solutions Architect (Corporate Functions & Investments)

Location: Richmond, Virginia; available to Virginia residents. Hybrid schedule required, with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Core working hours target 9am–5pm EST.

Salary: $144,800–$224,000 national range, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Establish a portfolio-level solution architecture capability and define current- and future-state architecture.
• Develop and govern technology roadmaps, modernization strategies, integration patterns, and architecture standards.
• Guide application lifecycle decisions, portfolio rationalization, platform selection, and strategic technology investments.
• Set architecture review and approval checkpoints throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Conduct solution, integration, data, security, and technology design reviews.
• Govern architecture documentation, standards, exceptions, technical debt, risks, remediation, and production transition.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, actuarial science, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of relevant experience and strong Business Systems Analysis or Product Analysis experience.
• Experience partnering with IT, cloud, data engineering, security, and business teams across integrated systems and controlled environments.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives or small technical teams, coordinate resources, manage priorities, and communicate risks and trade-offs.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools for code translation, modernization, testing, documentation, or developer productivity with appropriate review controls.
• Ability to mentor team members and support their development of Python programming skills.
