TL;DR
Solutions Architect, Expert (SCADA): Designing and governing solution blueprints across application, information, integration, security, and infrastructure layers for SCADA and substation protection telecommunications with an accent on technology roadmaps, standards, and complex cross-functional architecture. Focus on evaluating technology capabilities, developing business cases, guiding high-impact initiatives, and mentoring architects and field telecommunications specialists.

Location: Hybrid in Oakland, California, with work from a remote office and the Oakland office approximately 1–2 days per week or more based on business needs.

Salary: $140,000–$189,000 expected range; Bay Area range of $140,000–$238,000. Eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical solution blueprints for SCADA and substation protection technology domains.
  • Define architecture across process, application, information, integration, security, and infrastructure layers.
  • Partner with project and program managers, business architects, technology architects, stakeholders, and operations teams on strategic direction and technical decisions.
  • Create technology roadmaps, business cases, capability plans, standards, governance artifacts, and design patterns.
  • Assess technology health, manage risk and cost, and develop improvement plans for complex, high-impact initiatives.
  • Lead architecture practice communities and mentor architects, technical staff, subject matter experts, and field telecommunications technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in engineering or IT-related work.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience with technologies and techniques relevant to the role’s domain.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with regular attendance at the Oakland office.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
