Senior Quality Engineer (Electro-Mechanical Assembly)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $161,500–$226,000 USD annually, base salary only; equity grants may be included in total compensation.

What you will do

• Own electro-mechanical quality across components, sub-assemblies, and final vehicle assembly.
• Act as the first responder for production-line quality issues, containing suspect products and driving nonconformances through MRB to closure.
• Lead root-cause investigations, corrective actions, high-impact escape containment, and verification of fixes on the production line.
• Define quality metrics, SPC strategy, inspection and test plans, and error-proofing approaches in partnership with manufacturing, engineering, and software teams.
• Drive design for quality during new product introduction and design changes.
• Own factory measurement, calibration, Gage R&R, workmanship certification, audits, and compliance while mentoring quality engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, reliability, or design engineering supporting electro-mechanical hardware production.
• Hands-on experience with GD&T, metrology, calipers, height gauges, CMM, and visual inspection.
• Experience with fastening and torque control, thread locking, connector mating, harness routing and strain relief, potting and staking, adhesive bonding, and related defect modes.
• Experience leading RCCA using 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone analysis, PFMEA, control plans, FAI, and SPC.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for production-quality queries, dashboards, or tools.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling high-volume electro-mechanical production or standing up a new factory.
• Experience leading MRB and managing measurement and calibration programs.
• Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620, brushless motors, vibration and thermal effects, and electro-mechanical testing.
• Familiarity with composites, machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing, and ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
• Experience with drones, RC aircraft, FPV hardware, or mentoring engineers and technicians.
