TL;DR

Focus on designing proof-of-concept studies, interpreting metrology data, commissioning systems at customer sites, and translating technical findings into actionable recommendations.

Location: On-site in San Leandro, California, United States; travel up to approximately 25% for customer sites, installations, and conferences.

Base pay: $100,000–$160,000 USD per year.

What you will do

  • Work with customers, prospects, and collaborators to define metrology requirements and plan demonstration studies and proof-of-concept projects.
  • Design, run, and analyze experiments in company laboratories and at customer facilities, including test planning, data collection, and interpretation.
  • Present findings and recommendations to customer engineers, managers, and executives.
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize PlasmaSens systems at customer sites.
  • Provide field and customer feedback to product and engineering teams to influence roadmap and usability improvements.
  • Develop applications, calibration procedures, metrology workflows, and customer documentation such as application notes and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related technical discipline; or a Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • For bachelor’s or master’s candidates, 1–2 years of industry experience in manufacturing, metrology, materials characterization, or materials development; Ph.D. candidates should have related research or industry experience.
  • Experience using hardware and software in industrial or manufacturing settings, including laboratory instrumentation, in-line sensors, or analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, statistical process control, Gauge R&R, basic modeling, and trend analysis; experience with JMP, MATLAB, and/or Python.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel up to approximately 25% for customer work, installations, and conferences.

Nice to have

  • Experience in batteries, aerospace, power generation, semiconductors, energy, or electronics.
  • Exposure to plasma processing, high-temperature materials, or in-situ/on-line metrology systems.
  • Fluency in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, German, or French.
